Meal-planning is an important part of our week. It allows us to be more prepared and relaxed with regards to our nightly meals. As locavores, it also makes eating locally much easier because we take the time to figure out what seasonal foods are available and how we can use them. If you live in a similar climate (we’re in Southern Ontario, which is a pretty classic upper-midwest climate) then you should sign up for email updates or check out the facebook page or twitter feed and compare what you’re eating with us!
Happy Winter Morning!
Here was an awesome week of eating. Each meal unique, and most of them new (to us), and all were awesome! Wait, did I already say awesome? Well they were. And yes, I use the same adjectives over and over. At least I haven’t started writing rad on this blog. But maybe I should. ANYWHOOO, I especially recommend the Butternut Gallete, which ended up being a combination of Food52’s and Smitten Kitchen’s recipes.
Butternut Gallete
We still are cooking from the Food52 cookbook from the library, as well as Smitten Kitchen’s book which I picked up from the library more recently. I think we’ll be moving on next week to different cookbooks, but it’s been a good run!
As usual, sharing the plan at Menu Plan Monday.

I think I want to come eat at YOUR house! love, Mom
Well, Mom, you should come soon 🙂
Yum. We had pumpkin risotto tonight with the first of our tomatoes roasted on the top. Garlic is harvested and I’m just waiting for the potatoes to die back a bit. All on a vvv small back yard in inner city sydney:)
Awesome, that’s so great you’re already getting tomatoes! Seeing as everything just died here this past week and the temperature has been staying below freezing I’m rather jealous, but I guess it’s good to have a break for the Earth…
